1. ICCAD plans and contributions (J.Antonio)
Wednesday Nov 12, 6PM, annual DATC meeting at ICCAD. Juan-Antonio
plans a venture capital presentating with respect to EDA, looking for other
topics. Last year attendance was sparse. Not much competes with this time
slot. Panel discussion on design globalization proposed.

2. Next DATC newsletter and contributions (Gary, J.A.)
Andrzej suggested talking about timely milestones in design automation.
Gary needs other suggestions by the end of September.

3. Election of next Chair-elect (J.Antonio)
Juan-Antonio will report on the process. Nominees are needed (private
email), at least three. Juan-Antonio will consult his filtered list of about 500 nominalDATC members.

4. Status of web site (Joe)
Joe is looking for input. Uses DreamWeaver, Flash and FireWorks. Suggested a non-moderated forum on the web site. Joe will try to add some meta-tags to increase visibility to search engines. Andrej suggested adding more on DATC activities upcoming. Dwight suggested that more pictures would make the site more lively. Suggested having a picture of each executive committee member on the web. Joe suggested hosting on a different URL.

5. Status of other initiatives (crowdsourcing, etc.)(Dwight, others)
DWIGHT will send one paragraph on a "call for contributions" on solving parallel EDA problems through possibly canonical ordering. Gary and JA will use our channels to get contributions. These will be limited in space, eventually one page or less. Pseudocode is ok. Resulting contributions (or winning ones if we have too many) will be posted on our site, and in a special newsletter edition, perhaps also presented at ICCAD if we are on time.

6. Other ideas for 2008-9.
TBD

7. Microelectronics Systems Conference: DATC Affiliation
Committee APPROVED the involvement of DATC with MSE. Andrzej will follow up with JA on next steps.

8. IEEE Repository of IP
Interesting idea. We'll brainstorm how to help Ted/Andrzej get this funded. DATC is definitely behind it, and we can provide some funding but too small to be sufficient. Also Gary asked -- how is the move to modifiable IP going to affect that ? Non- modifiable IP (beyond configurable) is useless to companies these days.

Juan-Antonio.

9. Promoting Non-US Venues to avoid difficulties entering/leaving US.
Suggestion was that IEEE might lobby in Washington for this. Unlikely for IEEE-USA to agree. Discussion to be continued. We DATC are already doing lots of work with non-US conferences and content. It's one of our differentiators.

10. Newsletter needs input
Joe Damore pointed out that the Design and Test Magazine page we have is looking for new content. Usually we compress what we have in the broader newsletter, but more direct content is also welcome.
